The wait is over and worth it. I have recieved my GP300 and it is awesome. What an awesome bike. I found out that the 50 GPs coming into the US is 38 300s and 12 250s so i feel really fortunate to have one. Pics attached. I know that this dealer has one more coming soon if you are interested. Love mine, ECU was recalled in Australia and was reflashed to be slightly richer. So far very impressed. I?ve jetted with NECJ clip #4, 40 pilot, stock main and adjusted the power valve out to 2.5 turns really happy with the set-up

I rode my GP at a Cross Country last weekend here in Australia. Loved it, even with stock springs. Wallowed a little bit but never bottomed or got out of shape.
I will put some heavy springs in it, fit the XC300 start switch and go to my preferred bars next. NEDW was a little lean at idle. Might try a JD Jetting kit or NEDH next. I have a 49 tooth rear sprocket on my GP standard. All the other ones I have seen come with a 48. Anyone else have that standard? I may go larger for the tight technical terrain out here also. |
Great shot, Keg!

So far I'm enjoying the great handling of my GP300 and just swapped one fork spring only to a 0.46 kg/mm spring. I had an old 5.5kg/mm Sachs shock spring from my departed EC450 which also happened to fit in the KYB shock. Keg, what are your current carby settings? Still trying to sort the dreaded 1/4 throttle splutter + spooge & currently running 35PJ NECG #2, 172MJ with AS 0.75 turns out. Getting a bit more snap off the bottom now, then splutter followed by ballistic mid range. I'm currently waiting for NEDH needle to show up at my local Suzuki dealer so I can try 38PJ NEDH#2, 172MJ. |
Hi Ecrider,don't forget Keggo's running a 250.
I'm having a ball with my GP300 with n3cj #2,175 main,42 pilot,air screw 1 turn out.power valve 2 1/4 turns out. altitude 200m-1150m. GRO offroad 1 @50;1 I don't give a toss about the spooge hype,but get bugger all anyway..... |

Thanks guys, I thought Keg had a GP300.
I tried 45PJ N3CH #2 178MJ (close to N3CJ) & found 2 clips down to be too lean at 1/2 throttle, but spluttering low. I might retry as 42PJ N3CH#3 175M I'm using Penrite synthetic 50:1 at 100m. Float level set at 8.5mm |

Indeed, Cactus Flat. Here in Australia, we have a 2-t tuning house in Melbourne called TSP. My head will probably go to them for attention when I do my first top end - unless the 250GP head is shown to be a marked improvement over stock.

After my mate bought one 4 weeks ago and I could test ride it I immediately ordered one and will get it tomorrow.
The reason why I bought it and why I'll sell my KTM300/17 is that the suspension and brakes are the best I ever tried and I tried a lot. I have a completely revalved and tuned suspension on the Kato but the KYB stuff is even better right out of the box. And I get the brake I always wanted. Although I use the same Nissin master on the KTM it does not even come close to the Gasser's stopping power. Its amazing. Regards from Europe Doc |

I will go a 180main as it feels a little flat up top in sand. I get some spooge when lugging the bike a gear higher in slippery or rough terrain. But that is the whole point of lugging. It makes lower velocity through the carb and runs very rich so it is smooth torquey power delivery that won?t break traction, but you get unburnt fuel out the back. I don?t try to jet that as it will be lean in the fast stuff and less torquey in the technical terrain. |
Thanks Keg

Hey men. I have just been testing jetting on my new gp300 and am pretty happy with neck, third clip, 180 main, 40 pilot, AS 3turns(so may go 38),and have wound the power valve out 1 turn but will go a bit more to get the bottom end too come on quicker.

I love my GP!!!
I try some jetting spec but now i found my favorite http://fs1.directupload.net/images/180629/kloi3v37.jpg |
Hey guys. Im loving the discussion on here and its good to see a few fellow Aussies with the new GP. Im buying a GP250 and wondering who else has one, what jetting specs are you running and as somone said earlier are the squish clearences on the 250 only poor on the EC model or thr GP as well. Cheers. Gian.

My gp300 had a 1.8mm squish with the starndard 0.5mm base gasket. I dropped the squish to 1.6mm by swaping the base gasket to 0.3mm. This cleaned up the bottom end a little bit
