2018 XC300 vs 2019 Flywheel - are they the same?

I?m on the hunt for a 2018 XC300 fly wheel. Of course I cant just buy the flywheel, it seems to come as a package with the CDI (which I don?t need!). Looking at the parts catalogues the 2019 (which is the same bike) has a different part number for the flywheel but it comes as a flywheel and stator package (no idea why the package is different vs 2018). The 2019 package is a few hundred cheaper. Is there any reason why the 2019 fly wheel will not work on my 2018? I?m assuming they kept it the same? Surely it just triggers the pick up to send a signal to the cdi and tells it to fire?

Some sites indicate they are different and others say the are the same eg this one says they are the same

whereas this one looks to apply only to 2019https://www.cpd-usa.com/shop/ee70000ct-csk-1-rj-enduro-stator-flywheel-set-200250300cc-2019-ee70000ct-csk-1-9430#attr=9426

They are different.
The '19 flywheel has a bigger gap on the trigger.
Upper flywheel is the '18.
Lower flywheel is the '19 part.

I seem to remember that there was an upgrade of the earliest '18 flywheels. It had something to do with the bikes being difficult to start when battery voltage was slightly low.

I think they changed the gap for triggering the ignition, but I am not sure. There was also a reprogramming of the cdi.

I think also that the '18 cdi had no rain/shine switch. Perhaps the 19 had one, I am not sure.

Damn! In theory what would happen if I used a 2019 FW with the larger gap? Would the bike run like crap?

People have tried. Ended up burning holes in the pistons.

Not ideal then!

Sounds like I'm going have to buy the flywheel, Stator and CDI all just to fix a broken fly wheel. What a joke!
