I'm going to try the dremel trick tonight. I really miss my kickstand.

I honestly can't remember if I let it auto retract or not, it has been so long, but I'll assume I did if that seems to be a big source of the problem.

I've got around 35hrs on the 2013 and haven't noticed any issues, but basically I always use my hand and gently let the stand retract as opposed to letting it flick up. I don't use it very often either as I'm more inclined to just sit on the bike when we regroup. Only real time its handy is when I'm moving it around in the shed and can't push the bike and drag the center stand around together. I have all intentions of removing mine at some point.

Mine is always gently escorted with a boot or hand I've never been bit by it, actually like it. No matter what the bolt works out eventually and the next time it's used it bends the bolt. Now since it's bent it works its way out more. Locktite wont help. Retightning wont help if its bent even a hair.. One day it worked well... When i carried a wrench and shot a lazer level and poured concrete for it to sit on.

I suggest you convert it to the 2014 setup. All you need is the new special bolt, and drill the hole in the kickstand to 12 mm, and drill out the 8 mm thread in the frame and make it a 10 mm .

If you do this use a lot of loctite on the bolt otherwise the stand loosens the bolt each time you use it.

Is the 2014 the same as the 2013 in terms of the kick stand?

I'll post pictures later, but I used a longer steel bushing that moved the bolt head off the stand then used a washer to keep the stand from ever rubbing on the bolt head and loosening it. Problem solved so far.

2012 -- Bent Kickstand Bolt AGAIN

Yes. Pic please
Thanks

I wish TrailTech or ProMoto made an aftermarket one.

This one is for a KTM

Here she is, I just used a larger washer and slightly longer bushing I had laying around. A small piece of steel tubing would work as well. It keeps the stand from loosening the bolt which I think leads to the bolt getting bent.

If the 2014's use a larger diameter bolt I'd be interested in that, It sure couldn't hurt.

I agree with you Stu, the PMB stand would be the ultimate solution, or maybe just welding a tab to the frame so the stand is double shear over single shear. Poor design in my opinion.

A mate I've mine has the trail tech stand on his KTM. Well it has FAILED as well after only one year. He has now gone to a motion pro fingers crossed for him.
How much different is the 12-13 to the older model? Could move the spring holder to reduce the tension on the spring in the lowered position?
