Gasgas EC 300 2018 power valve adjustment

Hi guys,

I have a gasgas ec300 2018, and i have seen this video regarding power valve adjustment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu3T-ctnzKY

I want to ask some questions because i didn?t understand all the info.

Q1: if i turn the screw all the way to the right is that the standart position? (full power?)

Q2: 1.5 turns to the left(preload in the valve), the bike will rev slower? (less power sooner)

edit Q3: does some one know what is the factory setting?

thanks in advance.

All the dolly screw does is preload tension onto the spring that acts on the governor.

Turning the screw right adds more preload, meaning more centrifugal force is required to start opening the powervalve. Valve opens later.

Opposite the other way.

Does the screw have a max turn both sides? without breaking anything.

Sory but i'm afraid to break something.

regards.

I don't know if you can back the screw right out or not. I would count the turns in until it lightly seats. and that will be your tames power.

Thanks for the info, it helped me understand the procedure.

I turned the bolt all to the right and did a test run, no power at all.

from that point i did 3 turns to the left, it has a good amount of power in that setting.

Thanks for the help.

The standard setting is 2 turns out.
3 turns out makes it lively, revving quick, but you will loose torque.

The procedure shown in the video is wrong in my opinion, you should hold the adjuster with an allen key when tightening the lock nut. Just as it is described in your owners manual...

I didn't hold the allen, so locking turned pin it just a tad. I was going for 2.5 turns out, maybe more like 2.25 turns or so over all said and done. Noticed a change not extreme.

What setting do you guys like and why?

One important thing you must check when adjusting the power valve is that this rod connector MUST slip on freely, if it needs any force then adjust it so it slips on it makes a massive difference to to power valve...

I like to run it at 2 turns out, smooth controllable power, good bottom grunt.
I do all most single track riding, some hill climbs and some slow trails. So for my riding style and tracks it works good, if i ever go to a motocross track i will put it at 3 turns out, to have more explosive power, i have run it like this and found the it lacks bottom grunt on the trails.

Thanks to all for the heads up.

Good to know, I'll check the rod.

I'm going back to 2 turns for my next ride. It must be at a full 2.5 turns, seems to rocket out of corners, but wants to loop out in steep rock canyon wall climbs, using more clutch and revs to make it jump over stuff last ride, not that tractor feel like it had before.

I do like the kick for track type stuff, nice to know can change in in a matter of minutes.
