starter squeal
 

having this issue where when i press starter button i get this screaming squealing sound comming from the bendix area now if i remove the bendix an press button all works fine an smooth no noise the bendix itself is fine an moves free the bike didnt used to do this it worked fine one ride then the next it was a no go any one have any ideas befor i just start replacing stuff

Pull the stator cover and turn all the shafts and make sure the bearings are ok, otherwise the bendix gear might be slipping on its shaft. It is a press fit.

All is good I've looked this thing over an over I'm gonna go with the Bendix cover first everything fits together nice an tight but where the little shaft goes into cover it has a good bit of slop an is not round the small shaft is not bent

If the bendix doesn't move you just get a starter whine. The squeal is when the bendix moves but doesn't engage the gear teeth. The gears run against each other and screech.
