Replacing clutch fluid with DOT5.1 ?
Getting ready for the first ride this year, and would like to change the clutch master cylinder fluid but I only have DOT5.1 witch I use for the breaks.
Usually I go with the rule that you can put 5.1 if the cylinder is rated for 4. But on the AJP clutch cover all it's says is 'use mineral oil' no DOT number. Am I safe to use 5.1 ? Thanks, Dorin |
Don't use brake fluid, it will ruin the seals.
Any type of light weight mineral oil will work, I use Magura blood. |
Alright, thanks. I'll change it next week after I find some to buy.

I got my magura blood at the local mtb. shop

Cool, there is mtb shop right around the corner from where I live. I'll check there on monday.
Thanks. |
I’ve heard that baby oil is the same as mineral oil. I used some many years ago in a KTM clutch.

You can also use most fork oils in your clutch as long as they aren't synthetic. I used 5w fork oil in mine.
