Wiring for dummies

Hi In an hour of madness  i ripped some of the wiring of my 200ec (05) as i only want to use it for h & h/enduros. Well surprise surprise its not starting now  so my question is what wiring do i need to keep on? left all the wire from the alternator to cdi unit and from there to the coil. took the oringinal kill switch out and mounted one on the bars. Is there a removing wiring for dummies anywhere?:D thanks

Here is the tech article that I did for wiring lights and horn on my old 2001 XC250. The wiring should be the same.

Here is the tech article:

Here is the basic wiring diagram for GG's:

Here is the modified wiring diagram for using a DPDT (double pole, double throw) switch:

After posting the above, wiring diagrams may seen confusing at first but here are the basics...

HEADLIGHT:
  • Yellow is the "hot" wire. This gives power to lights, horn, etc..
  • Run the yellow wire to a toggle switch to control the lights, etc.
  • From the light switch, GG typically uses violet wire to run to the tailights and headlight. So, the violet wire is "hot" where toggle switch is "on".
  • The ground wire is yellow with green stripe.
  • You need to run a ground wire from the light to the bike's yellow-green wire.

KILL SWITCH:
The typical kill switch is a two-wire switch (commonly, black wire and black with white stripe wire).
  • The wire coming from the CDI is either black with yellow stripe or grey wire.
  • Connect this wire to one of the kill switch wires (it doesn't matter which one). Let's use black with white stripe for now.
  • Then, connect the remaining kill switch wire (black) to the bike's ground wire which is yellow with green stripe.

Hope this makes sense. Let us know if you run into issues.
