Choke replacement

Hi guys,

The threaded plastic part of the choke that thread into the carb is knackered on my bike and I think it may be leaking and causing isssues with my Bikes idle.

Does anybody know of a crossover or a good place to get a replacement part in the UK as gasgas was ?57 for that plastic part.

Failing that, a manual (non/cable) choke replacement. The carb is a PWK ASII

Any modern day two stroke bike that uses the Keihin carb, the choke will crossover.

I've heard of people having trouble with the cable operated choke, cable can jam slightly and hold the choke open a little, causing problems.

You're better off with the simple pull knob type.

Does this help you?

All the best, Dave.

Wow! That part has gone up in the last 10 years.
After three or four years, it was normal to have to replace the part to make it stay it up by itself when it was pulled up.

I used to sell the replacement choke insert (with the knob) for $34 in my shop.
I got the part from Sudco or Carb Parts Warehouse, which are both Keihin distributors and dealers in the US.

You would be better off getting rid of the cable and replacing it with just the knob as the cable can sometimes result in the choke being partly left on. That's what I did on mine and it seems to run more consistently.

Try this for only $10 GBP

Or only $3 GBP

I guess at those prices they're not genuine Keihin, but seeing as it's not such a critical part and is a pretty simple design, they should work OK.

All the best, Dave.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I bought a 6.97 replacement choke from a scooter shop advertising on eBay and it fits and works great

Well I can tell this site is going to be invaluable :)

I just picked up a 2011 Gas Gas 300 EC....can't wait to get it on the trail!

Just giving it a once over in the garage and that cable choke has got to go. Nailed this thread on the first search!

I was glad to see your post, Jim. I was lucky enough to make it to one of the WUDI rides in the early 2000's. What a great time.

Next stop....starter fix.

You're very welcome.
Private message me your name and a "Hello". I think I may recall you with a little more prompting. Kansas City?

The thread on the starter is great! That, and a linked youtube video made it very easy to do the electric starter fix on my 2011 EC250.

I'm glad you joined us!

Jim
