DE300 Suspension in tight woods

I am heading to my local dealer tomorrow to finally make up my mind on buying a DE300. I just found out today that the bikes are actually 2005's not 2006's. That isn't too big of a deal I suppose.

Are these DE's valved for the woods or for the desert?

05 is valved softer than 06

As an owner of an 06 EC300 I would have to say that the suspension would work in either situation; they respond well to adjiustments so don't be afraid to play with the shocks and forks. I would recomend a steering damper though as mine gets kinda nervous at high speeds. As a huge fan of the older steel frame Honda CR's it doesn't bother me but it has scared some of my friends when it starts to shake it's head. But "oh my god does it turn" rings very true for these bikes. Point and shoot or slide it, it doesn't matter.

It's safe to say that Gas Gas suspends their bikes for the woods. The components are top notch, but stiffer springs and valving would be necessary for high speed desert riding.
