EC 300 2011 racing or standard
 

Hi

I'm selling my 1997 EC 250 and looking at buying an EC 300 2011 and I?m trying to work out if it?s the racing version or standard version I looked at the previous models on the GasGas website and it states...

Standard version 2011

Front fork Sachs inverted 48 mm.

Sachs hydraulic monoshock


Racing version 2011

Front fork 48 mm Marzocchi inverted closed cartridge.

?hlins 888 hydraulic monoshock

The bike I'm looking at has the Ohlins shock and black forks but I can?t tell what they are, it also has racing plastics, is there any other way of telling what version it is?
Any help would be great

I got the information from the GasGas website, maybe different country's are given different forks and shocks than what is stated on the website ?

Depends where you are.

Mix of 45mm Zokes, 48mm Sachs, and 48mm Marzocchi with PFP.

Only the racing models received the closed chamber zokes. They have a 3 pointed star in the cap which fits a 22mm socket to adjust the preload.

Sachs come with a couple of different caps across the models/years, but standard OC. Lower leg will measure 48mm OD.

Marzocchi 45mms measure smaller again.

48mm CC are the pick in terms of performance. The 48mm Sachs will fit TTX carts, can be revalved well, and the triple clamps allow for fitment of other forks if you find yourself in that position.

I wouldnt want 45mm Zokes, but thats just me. They can be setup to work well within their scope.

I think I have Sachs forks please see attached picture.
I have 45 Zokes on my 1997 and they are OK I guess, I'm hoping I'm going to notice a big difference all round coming off my old EC250 1997 to riding a 2011 and coming off a 250 to a 300 :D

Just look at the front brake rotor. Does it have a Galfer wave rotor? If so its a race. If it has a standard rotor it's not an R.

Confirmed standard, no wavy disks.

Yes, those legs are 48mm Sachs open cartridge

I'm having the same issue EC250. Have you confirmed that they are the 48mm Sachs?
