Intake/Carb FAQ

FAQ = Frequently Asked Questions...

I am looking to add a "frequently asked questions" section to the website to save space and time.... I will have it partitioned into categories that correspond to the categories in the forum here - engine, electrical, chassis, etc.

What do you think should be in the intake/carb FAQ?

thanks,
jeff

Jeff,

Addressing questions about jetting would be good. However, there are different perspectives, which can become controversial.

I suggest setting up a tabular listing for people to share the jetting they have found to work well along with the specific conditions (temp, elevation, riding type). This could enhance the spirit of sharing.

Questions:

Can I change jets without removing the carb?
What happens to my jetting if I put such-and-such reeds in my Rad valve?
How do I properly vent the carb?
How can I tell if my reeds are bad?
I foul a lot of plugs. Is it my jetting?

How about a link to an online air density calculator?

I have had a bit of frustration finding a jetting guide. I have found formulas and great pictures on other sites. We could adapt it to this site. Even if we could make a chart that could get us close. I know it is easy to change the jets out but it takes for ever, especaly when you change altitudes as much as I am. Just a though!

PS. Good luck with the site Jeff!
