GG 280TXT Pro Tranny problem

Can anybody suggest a solution to my '06 GG 280TXT Pro shifting problems? I have trouble selecting 4th gear. The trans makes a grinding clunk sound and goes straight into 5th from 3rd. I can select 4th when I ride very slowly and before the engine warms up much. Also, downshifting is very "vague" and not very positive.

I've checked the eccentric adjuster as per the Video on Gasgas USA's website, and it "clicks" going into 1st and 2nd as the video says it should. My question is, does anybody know which direction I should turn the eccentric adjuster to try to "reset" the shift drum? I want to try that before I go changing out shift forks, gears etc.

I know that 4th gear is the most "complex" gear to select in the trans, but it should shift into gear with no problems. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Try trialpartsusa?/Rising sun imports. They should be able to help.

The first person to talk to is rising sun imports.... The early pro models were very finicky...

06 is past the first years with clutch and tranny issues.
Jim Snell at Rising Sun would be your best place for info.
If you live on the east coast, try Stu at Jacks Cycles or PM Laser17 at ADV Rider, very much up on Gas Gas trials issues.
The ADV Rider trials forum has a bunch of trials guys that have good collective trials knowledge. You can always go to Trials Central, but I have had better feed back from the ADV Rider guys.
I would stop riding till you figure it out, you might have some broken metal floating around inside.

maybe the split bearings-- the one on the secondary shaft always goes first-- best to replace both-- gotta take the engine out and split it.

In my experience with my 1992 GasGas trials bike Scott Armstrong at MotoConnectionVT is great and very helpful. PM me if you want his email.
