Fuel pump relay-where is it?

I have new fuel pump relay for a 2005 450 FSE but I can't find the old one on the bike to replace it.

Anybody know where it's located?

Could it be No 12?

There are two relays there. I had to replace one once on a customers bike and the parts diagram does not show it. I replaced it with an automotive relay that was much stronger and it has worked fine since.

The earlier post is right, its behind the right side number plate. There are two, one for the fuel pump and one for the fan.

I guess I didn't receive a fuel pump relay.

I had been having an intermittent problem with the fuel pump not firing when I turned on the key. Now it won't start at all.

I thought the fuel pump relay was bad and that it was located next to the battery under the right panel. I replaced the original with a NAPA relay but that didn't fix it. So I decided to order the factory part. When I received the part below I was hoping the the relay was still the problem but it was located somewhere else on the bike, not the relay next to the battery.

I want to ride my bike again. It's dirt bike season in Texas.

Thats it minus the cover or shroud if you want to call it that, that surronds the spades on the relay. Will it fit with the shroud ? Also check your key switch. Unplug it and use a jumper, i've had it go fubar from water intrusion.

Unfortunately I got the wrong one.

The one in the picture is the NAPA relay, it's a direct match for the relays near the battery.

In the meantime I'm going to check the key switch, that may be it.

I had a intermittent starting/fuel pump problem, then total failure on my 04 quad. Turned out after much electrical trouble shooting, it was the ignition switch. One of the soldered(sp) connections was hanging on by a strand or two, then finally broke. Easy fix.

Hope that I am way too late!

My FSE 450 acted exactly like you described although it never quite got to the point of not running at all. Installing a pair of those NAPA AR 614 relays (they are cheap, figured at worst I would have a usable spare if needed out on the trail someday) made it a different bike, no more "flame out", could hear the pump prime every time I turned on the key. So far it's my best improvement, someday I will do the master link stand fix and cut the blue/yellow wire, have to make some time for that, and to actually RIDE the bike.
