2005 --> No Squawk. 2011 --> Some Squawk

One of the things I liked about my 2005 was that I would have to brutally abuse it to get it to make any noise, and it modulated very well without grabiness.

My 2011 can squawk on moderate hillishness from a stop, its modulate has more of an on-off feel than I had become accustomed too, and it is a bit grabby.

I've used ATF as well as conventional gear oil and Rotella dino and synth in both.

I bought a slightly used Rekluse EXP 2.0 that I have yet to install. Too bad it doesn't come with the adjustable slave cylinder. I'm in no rush as summer in Phoenix isn't delightful to ride or to wrench. I have the "special washer," as well. Any special considerations with the installation?

I'll take the basket, hub, fibers and steels out and give it a good look. I would consider a Rekluse basket as well.

My '11 was the same. I modded the basket and hub (drilled more holes) and it made it a lot better. Still gets loud and grabby but now takes a lot more abuse to do it. After reading reviews on here ill be buying a rekluse basket in the near future. Seems to pretty much make the problem go away.

My '11 had the full manual Rekluse and it did make noise, but very very rarely.

If you buy the Rekluse Basket make sure that you measure the hole in the center of your OEM basket. It will either be 40mm or 46mm. On my 2011 EC300 my OEM basket was a 46mm and Rekluse had sent me the wrong sized basket. They immediately machined a new basket and shipped it to me. The new Rekluse Basket fit perfectly.

Here is a thread that I posted during my install. The slave cylinder was a pain to bleed but its works very well. I wanted to use Honda Fiber Plates so Rekluse sent me a set of special steel plates. These special steel plates were 1.22mm as opposed to about 1.55mm for the standard plates. Rekluse erroneously sent me one steel that was 2.25mm so my clutch pack height was incorrect. Rekluse then sent me a new plate to replace the 2.25mm plate. When I get I get home I will post the size of this last steel plate.

Yikes. That is quite a story on that link.

Yikes is right, it was involved but it was worth it. Everything works really well now.:D

Okay, gimme your synopsis for this thread. ;)

...and what if I kept the GG basket and didn't get the adjustable slave cylinder? Less issues?

rgranger 07-23-2013 07:55 PM

...less issues? I don't know, once I got the slave bled and pumped up, I have had no issues with my 2013. My 2011 hasn't made a noise since I installed the Rekluse basket, the 2013 still has the factory basket and makes no noise - go figure?
