Hi all.......

I'm after some advise, I've just bought a 2007 ec250, for the past 6 months I have been riding a honda cr125 for enduros, I had the bike set up to ride these conditions but after a while of getting used to the 125 I realised there wasn't really enough bottom end.

KTM's are too tall for me, I had an exc200 before and lowered it.... What a mistake that was... Then someone mentioned the gasser, I had a very long conversation with my local gas gas dealer over whether to get a 200 or 250..... So now I'm sat here with a 250 on my hands....

Trouble is all I'm getting now is people saying that its gonna be too much for me and I won't be able to handle it?! It's really getting on my nerves.

So..... Are there any tips I need to bare in mind when riding or is it gonna be a case that no..... I can't.... Or is it just because they've had a bad experience?

don't worry, you'll have tons of fun with it.
just set it up so it's not all to agressive.
different throttle cam, needle, some adjusting of the power valve, heavier flywheel weight... those are all options to alter the caracter of your engine.
just give it a go and give yourself some time to adjust to it.
maybe you won't even have to adjust too much because you might like it as is.
afterall,all that counts is that you can go and ride, right?:D

I'm a slow guy, and my 2011 EC250 is AWESOME. Very manageable power, pulls strong down low, but it will still put the fear of god in me if I get too abrupt with the throttle lol.

Yes its going to be more powerfull than the CR125, but its also easier to ride in my opinion as it makes enough grunt down low that you dont need to ring its neck to keep up momentum.

I was in the same boat as you, and I'm extremely happy with my Gas Gas purchase :)

Put a heavy flywheel weight on it to help smooth out the power delivery.

My wife and my sister both ride 2011 ec250s.

First congrats on your purchase. There are a few female riders on this site. My wife rides my old 250 GasGas. Her bike is a 97' which came with a heavy flywheel and counter balancer. You can add a flywheel weight to your 07' which will help tremendously. Also to tame my wifes bike down I put a 48 tooth sprocket on the rear and run her jetting a bit rich to lessen the throttle response. You can also invest in a G2 throttle which has cams to adjust the amount of throttle response.

What you will like about these bikes is you can ride them in a gear higher and chug the bike around. Remember all suspension needs to be adjusted to the rider and your personal needs. So getting the right springs and set the rear sag. Just a personal note on suspension. Afterhourscycle.com does a great job with the GasGas suspension. He is also a GasGas rider and dealer.

Probably not too much help for you but ive actually found the 300 easier to ride than the 250s. The 300 just pulls nicely from the bottom end, sure the top end still scares me but i try and just feed it high gears and chug along, the 250 seemed too revy for me. coming from the 125 do you probably wont have that problem

I'm in the middle of changing my nambotin 300 to a 250 for exactly the opposite reason. I find it much more tiring to ride over long stretches and It just plain feels heavier(even though its not) it really is a personal preference because I here so many people say a 300 is easier but I've had mine for 3 years now and everytime I ride a buddies 250 I wish mine was just that!

+1, I've been in that camp for years.

I have a 300 kit on the shelf I was going to put on my '07, but I may sell/trade it for a set of KYBs instead.

I have been in the other camp, until i rode my 300 in an enduro last weekend.... it has me thinking i may put the 250 back on it..
