450 fse? can it be carb converted?
Has anybody converted an older FSE over to a carb setup? well,, and had it work? Its close to a drz head design so I was just wondering to avoid issues. I have seen a few older FSE's come up for sale here and there and just thought about it but don't want to have a Fi nightmare with an older bike.

Wasn't the 4 stroke Pampera carbureted?

I've been thinking the same thing till I found the post from the other guy about the software for our ECU's.
Going off just some basic search I was doing, it looks like you can just bolt the carb on if the throat is about the same size as the FI throttle body. Gonna have to drill the tank for a petcock. There are some tunable ignition modules for a DRZ out there, so probably use one of those. I've not looked deeply enough on how to wire up the whole shebang though. |
MotoWest in CA had a conversion kit you could buy.
Check them out. |

I'm confused. That's them for sure.
Unless they have new management. Steve Marolda (owner) was the one that mentioned the conversions that I saw. |

Thought I'd resurrect this thread with some info on fitting a Keihin FCR39 to my EC400.
Bike has sat, and refused to start for nearly two years. I've had the head rebuilt, got spark and compression, and injector tested fine when connected to 12 volts. Bike just refused to start. A couple of weeks ago, I got fed up, and connected an FCR39 carb I had in the shed to the bike. Hit the button, and she roared into life! Not only that, but the bike went a lot harder with the FCR than the EFI, so I decided to make it permanent. Fitting the FCR was a bit tricky, I actually had to remove the left upper rear shock support. If need be, I can reinforce it later. The shock fits in pretty snugly. |
That's awesome.
Thanks for sharing. |
