I've never used one and can't bring myself too yet. But, I did recently buy the Ogio flight vest and it's awesome. Basically a tactical vest with tons of storage and a hydration pack. All comfortably distributed.

I use one from Thor.
Not too big. Not too small. Almost Waterproof Good keys and foldable knife side pocket |

I use the Ogio 450 tool pack. The first one lasted almost 2 years before the bag expanding strap broke. Was an easy fix and still using the pack after 3 years. The whoops out in the desert destroy stuff. I would love to be able to ride without one but with the family all riding I would rather have tools when needed than not.
Fender bags do lot last out here. |
These bad boys aren't cheap, or small.. I have had mine perhaps 5 years now? I have one part where the seams pulling on the front from carrying a screw driver in it. Never washed, never dried, never maintained. I wear it every ride with several kgs of tools in it. Mud, rain, everything.
I'm happy to take a pic of the state of it and confirm when I bought it if you like. |
I have a Kelly's tool pack. 100% leather.
By FAR the best tool pouch I have ever owned. I don't even know it's back there. https://secure.kellyenduroproducts.c...ml/bumbags.htm https://secure.kellyenduroproducts.c...mbag_black.jpg https://secure.kellyenduroproducts.c...bag_inside.jpg |
I hate carrying tools on my person. I worry about falling on them & the extra weight every time I have to drag my tired arse out of the seat & stand up after a sit down area.
its a pity GG never took the opportunity to use the spare space on the LHS of the airbox-sidecover to make a moulding area for a tool roll. Everyone wants to carry some tools. I've improvised under the seat, but its not enough. |
I've had great luck with the klim unit. I had a tendency to carry too much stuff with the flight vest and it bothered my shoulders and back

I have the kriega r3 and it has lasted really well. Well thought out and waterproof
The leatt one also seems pretty good with a kidney belt type of belt that looks really comfy and won't slide around I have also made an under seat tool bag to reduce the weight around my waist |
