DSMRA Night Ride

Just got home from a night brap! The gas gas headlight isn't very good! The LED head lamp I bought wasn't much better! Conditions were pretty good with rain falling the last 2 days, and sunshine this morning and afternoon!

Bit of a casual do, but a couple people had cams running so might be some footage to follow.

Anyone here done any night riding? I'm keen to step it up and smash some single tracks of an evening!

Night riding is great with good light.... so I have heard??
Did a few night rides on the 07 with a 6 inch rd headlight fitted with hid. Was ok light but riding was great.
Cheers Mark

I had one mate who was on a ktm 500 with a big LED bar fitted across the bar pad. That was impressive. Sitting to his side we were easily sitting around 80-100kms with great visibility.

Another bloke had a pretty impressive head lamp and with him following behind/beside it was OK too with exception for the occassional shadow being cast in odd places.

Of all nights though, the hippys had decided to set up a bush doof somewhere in the sticks. Passed more cars on the old dirt road tonight than I have in the last 6 months.

i have a trail tech helmet lamp.. works awesome.. shines where you look.. along with a normal headlamp it is a lot better..
rode the mc250 with it mounted on the bars once.. it was brighter than my buds husaberg factory lamp...

2 trail tech helmet lights (6 hrs constant use on their batteries) and a big round shooting light I've hooked up where the headlight should be, all that puts out enough lumens for me to almost ride at daylight pace, much more fun at night with the added bonus of no one else being about!

I have a Trailtech X2 fitted to my 03...works great, even better when combined with a helmet lamp. I like lights on both sides of helmet(1 spot, 1 flood). Can ride known trails, at close to daylight paces.

How do you find nasty technical single tracks under the moon? I was riding at a pretty comfy pace at night still, but it definitely took a bit more trust in the bike to do what it had to. My biggest concern at night is increased wildlife.

We do loads of night riding, just get a light similar to this, take the handlebar mount off, drill a hole in your peak and screw it through using the screw / thread from the original mount.

Battery lasts 3 hours, really bright, similar to a car headlight. you can ride the woods in total darkness, we have been out until 3am no problems. Its so powerful you can turn the bikes headlight off and you wont notice the difference it totally over powers it..
