Help.. Jetting problem?
Bike year & model = 2001 enduro ec300 (2stroke)
Temperature Celsius = 0 - 30 Elevation =0-1000meter Main jet = 182 Pilot jet =40 Needle & notch =n1EF notch = clip on highest point( needle lowest) Air screw setting =2,5 Throttle valve/slide =7 results: from 0% to 40 % trottle the engine responds well . if i go from 20a30 % trottle to WOT the rpms goes up but... it takes a 2 or 3 seconde to reach max rpms !it s like i should pull THE chocke a little bit up when i open THE trottle when i close the trottle then and open it again right away, then it works Great, straith to max rpms.if i let HIM idle for 15 Seconds i got THE same problem again.. i gues he is to rich ??? Sombody Any suggestions for my what i should change first? Pilot jet ? I tryed THE needle clip 1 groove down but That is even worse The owner before me did trial tracks with this bike.. Thanx and sorry for my bad englisch. From Belgium Stefan |
If you raised the needle and it got worse, that suggests a rich condition. First, I would try a 178 or 180. Not a huge change, but little steps.

Yes, he was to rich! :-)
I changed the pilot jet from 40 to 35 and also changed THE main jet from 182 to 165 I got THE main jet laying around... Now he Goes fine. No more problem when riding slow and open THE trottle full , he shoot to max rpm without Any problem and fast. Now its a task to find THE biggest main jet he could run..without THE problem return If i try THE main jet of 182 i got THE issue again but just a little bit.. I Will try a 175 main jet? Will iT make a big diffirence from 165 to 175 main ?becouse he is driving smooth now...but i wanna be sure i gotTHE best jet... :) Thanx for your advise ggrider |
Ok, those are not little steps!
Try a 175. Buy a 178 if you can. I'm positive the 165 is going to be too lean. Don't use it for very long, or don't ride hard if you do. Then try a N3EG needle! The likely reason you felt the need to go to a 35 on the pilot is because the needle is too rich.. The straight section of the needle (denoted by the last letter, F, G, H, W, etc) plays a significant part in the idle circuit. The stock N1EF is too rich all around. I would not recommend the 35 pilot. It might respond really crisp but will generate excess heat and not have as much power. I am currently running a 42 pilot and 175 main. Currently testing a N3EG at the behest of another user here. |
42 with n3eg is a bit too rich, I use 42 but only with n3cg and 178 main.

Thank you for the good info.
I Will change the needle asap. And hope it will fix my problem. And i Will change THE pilot back to 40 A 175 main is in the carb now and a 35 pilot And he is stil a little to rich at WOT Cu later |
Reed valv problem ....
Hello , I checkt my reed valv and 3 from 4 valves are a little bit open...
0.15mm = gap of 0.0039 ″ Is it possible to turn THE reed valvs(carbon piece) upside down? Should i try that or buy a new ? http://cdn1.motocrosscenter.com/shop...-300-97-05.jpg |
Reed valv problem
These reed valvs are in my ec 300 right now:
http://cdn1.motocrosscenter.com/shop...-300-97-05.jpg The site recommends both reed valvs for ec 300 from 2001 - 2 stroke ... I buy these becouse these are THE same as mine Or can i turn them upside down to handle the problem? Thanx for advise |
