Has anyone went to this? I'm thinking of going this year to race on amateur day (sat.). Will be well healed of my broken femur by then...lol. Or may chicken out and watch everyone else..lol

It says that the amateur day is a 10mile regular. You take 2 laps and they transfer the top 60 (out of 120 riders).
The next race with the 60 riders is a 10mile regular lap and 3 skills section. Top 30 move on to Pro race on Sunday.

Is the 10mile coarse just like a tight Harescramble or is it extreme trials stuff? anyone have the info?
Anyone going or thinking of going?
Would you go and compete on your GG?

My Beta dealer and a couple of other Hawaii riders went last year and had a blast. He said he met some nice people and had a fun ride. He was riding Beta. One of the Hawaii riders got a top 10 with all the pros too. I don't know the format though. Here's some youtube stuff..

Aaron Mcnight was one of the Hawaii riders. He did great finishing 7th in pro after qualifying through amateur on Saturday. he must be quite the rider. he put in 3+ hard hrs of qualifying before he could even say that he was in 4 Sunday.
Do u know him hawaiidirtrider?

Yea I see him in the trails and he's a nice guy and rides with nice guys . Of course he's a real good rider. I'm not close friends or anything but he rides with a bunch of guys that test their limits and win some local races. We just run into each other every once in a while. He's around 20+ years younger than me and I'm not in top physical shape like I was... I wouldn't ride with his group until I was a bunch more fit. That's my goal this year..get fit and go back to charging with the younger guys like I used to... I see him sometimes in some central Oahu trails. He's got some great vids too!! What's interesting is he's mainly a trail rider f rom what I know and he went over there and placed 7th!! Local guys raised their eyebrows and were impressed and happy for him. Check out some of his and his friends vids... fun stuff and some radical stuff too. I like also because a lot of his vids include where I ride too. These guys are down to earth but charge..That's cool to me.

Here he is here with some other good riders and riders just willing to push it and suffer a bit like normal I guess.. Ya gotta ride with the more hardcore guys to get good.. It's painful but an adventure and fun too.. It helps to be just a little bit nuts.. great fun vids!! check em out!

This is an awesome event put on by great people. My son participated in the inaugral event and then again last year. We may have a scheduling conflict for 2013 due to him being in college now. Bummed.
