2017 EC 300 vs 2008
 

Was offered good price on the new model, don't yet even know if it's E or what type suspension is it equipped with; reiger/marzz , sachs/sachs etc.
street homologated version.

Interested in comparing:
- Weight, reports say 2012on models are heavy feel
- maneuverability in slow trecherous offroad, mid steep hill starting & mx track experienced amateur usage
- ease of engine setup is prefferably the same as previous models, squish, compression, jetting
-AS2 without TPS i hope
- plastic subframe prone to breaking? alu is easy to weld.

any other live usage data valuable info.

I know powervalve is adjustable since '15.

Sub-frame is not plastic

Bike will have a much larger overall feel

Engine is virtually unchanged

Marzocchi 48's up front and Reiger shock out back

AS2 no TPS

2015 motor is like a worked 2011
It came with an AS1 (imho better low end)
Waaaay better suspension
E start
Way better high speed and pretty much equal low speed handling

A generational leap me thinks.

I think he is saying his '15 came with a ASI and that it was better than his '11 ASII .......maybe :confused:

Not all 15's had AS1 carbs though.

I had a 10 (worked to Nambo/Cervantez spec), 13 with custom head, revalved shock and KYB SSS forks, access to my dealers 15 250R (now owned by a friend/forum member), and spent 4 hours the past weekend chasing my dealer around while he self demo'd his 17 250R.

I didn't ride his 17, but his thoughts were that his 17 felt very nice. With 42 NEDW#2, 175 it ran like a champ. He got 110kms of mixed terrain without hitting reserve on the stock engine, fuel consumption on par with my 2013 with head mod. His suspension to him felt slightly plusher than his 15 model, and he loved that suspension.

I have rode his previous 15, and thought it was nice. Clearly felt smaller and more refined than my 13 model.

To me, anything from 13 onward is worlds ahead of the 11 earlier chassis. In a different league. I loved my 10 model, and never once thought it was lacking or holding me back, but after possession of the 13 I only had eyes for the new girl... who no longer looks anything like new.

Does GG use AS1/AS2 according to area, where bike will be ridden or they just bolt on whichever comes from the shelf? I presume the latter.

AS1 should be cheaper unit, not used in other bikes for years, thats why I'm baffled for it being used in some '15.
Could be that they were forced to spend less in that uncertain production year.
'17 are all AS2 suppose.

Damn, those nice impressions are certainly butterflying my guts now.

If it's an E and the price is right, go for it.... mine came with an AS1. I came from a 09 with a AS2. Good starter and the suspension upgrade and I was sold...
adjustable powervalve is also a big plus...

Basically what Simmo said its true but don't expect magic stuff, at the end of the day a dialed up 08 would do as good...

I think the carb model simply boils down to availability, what they have access to in what quantities.
