Power valves after 920 miles
My 2015 GG 250 now has 920 miles on it.
I decided to do a refresh on the top end. I've never had it apart. Ran a compression test, came out to 140psi. The power valves were really clean, a testament to how clean the SmartCarb operates. The left side power valve chamber was dry also. No spooge build up. I ran Amzoil 50:1 for a while and have now switched to LUCAS oil. Flapper had little carbon build up. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...psg9ejs9rm.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...psdttt6bms.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...psz8itc4ak.jpg Back side of flapper. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...pscgmqkjgm.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...pshccpc76q.jpg |
Any pictures of the piston Girard?

Impressive to say the least. Pretty toasty, I bet your plug looks just as golden!!!
|
The flapper is different from mine 2011. Your is "hollow" mine is solid.
(Just for future record) |
Knock off the carbon and get her back in the dirt ASAP!

When I took the power valve actuator cover off, I thought the actuator was on backwards. The bell crank was facing to the front. Instead of the actuator rod moving up (pre '15) to open the flapper, the rod pulls down on the '15. |

Verr nice!
Also, just curious. Are you still using your original 38mm billet? and have you had any revisions or updates made to the metering rod/check valves/float assembly? |
Looks like disassembly scuff and that's it, another 50 hrs at least on that piston.
|
Did you put the Smart Carb on when the bike was new?
