Why wont Rekluse make a EXP for the GG.

I know they make the core EXP at around 900.00 but whats up with not making the less expensive one. I called them and they said they dont make an EXP and they dont plan too. Is GG such a small market they dont see any $$$$.

I asked them the same question & the answer I was given was that they couldn't get the Core to perform properly on it's own in the GG- ie. it couldn't meet their engineering standards/objectives. What that means, I'm not sure......& the guy couldn't clarify.

Sadly I was told the same thing when I called.

I wonder if they would change their position on the topic with an all new clutch in the 2012...

doesn't the CR250R EXP drop right in?

posted in a previous thread-

My sheet says 00-11 for both part #s BUT DOES NOT show a Z-Start available now, just the Core EXP and the Core Manual

EDIT add info-, Being a new dealer (only 2 months) I called tech support and got some info-

The Z-Start is no longer available and they have no plans at this time to offer a Z-Start Pro, @ $629 for most apps, for the Gas Gas line even though the Z-
Start Pro is described as 'bulletproof'. He did not elaborate but I would assume it's the same thing we run into now with aftermarket- not a high enough bike count.

The Core manual @ $519 is as it says, a manual clutch, but very high quality components ( I didn't have time to itemize parts in the kit).

The Core EXP @ $899 is the high dollar one and is the only 'auto' clutch they have available for Gas Gas.

The EXP @ $399 is a lower money setup that sacrifices some of the stock clutch plates to allow for the plate to fit in the basket and in their testing they were not comfortable with the durability of the GG clutch setup when plates were subtracted, thus the 'no EXP available' problem we have with the Gas Gas line.

Probably the only hope to find a Z-Start for a Gas Gas is to watch the part outs or find someone that wants to upgrade to the Core EXP. Hope this helps

I call bullshit, if it's not reliable in a gasgas what makes it reliable in a honda or any other bike that shares the clutch components with honda

I'd have to agree with this...

Guess you havent had to replace a clutch basket yet, theres some bad ones out there and they probally killed the one they had for testing in a short amount of time.

myrcrocks 03-01-2012 05:36 PM

I've never had to replace a clutch basket, but have had an auto clutch in a bike before... I've had a Revloc DynaRing, which works under the same principles as the EXP... I don't see how it would cause any additional stresses on the basket...
