What's it worth?

There's an 2000 EC200 for sale close to me that I've been toying with going to take a look at. Though it appears in good shape the asking price of $1500 seems kinda high for such an old bike. What's it worth?

I'd offer 1200 USD, but would go as high as $1500 if I really liked it.

I paid $1200 for my '01 that looked about like this one . I really like mine.

I see this one has later model Excel rims. That's a nice upgrade.

No matter how well it checks out, you know it'll need some TLC. Turned out mine needed crank bearings & seals along with a fresh top end. Fresh seals & fork oil and the same for the shock. Front brakes needed going over as well. The good news is I found almost everything I needed on line at good prices.

Thanks for the opinion, and I hadn't recognized the wheels- good call.

What's the consensus on the standard (non-inverted) forks? Doubtful that I'd be able to evaluate them on a gentle test ride.

That's an interesting bike. The top mounted tail light makes me think it is a 2000 XC200 (the XCs still said EC on the shrouds). If that's the case it would've come with 43mm upside down WP forks. I think the ECs that year did have conventional Marzocchi forks though. But...look closely and I think someone has swapped a Suzuki RM front end from about 96-98 on there. Check out the triple clamp bolt location, the brake disc and hub looks Suzuki, the forks themselves are different, front rim doesn't match the rear rim, etc.

Anyway, that's a clean looking old 200.

Those suzuki forks are closed cartridge and they are excellent. That looks like a nice bike, I would jump all over it for 1500.:D

Any good running dirt bike is worth $1500
