I just saw this page it seems like a big stretch. I noticed the mod that required the removal of the powervalve shims. has anyone seen this page beofre or know anything about these mods?:rolleyes:

Is indeed a big stretch, but in saying that all pretty standard mods to increase performance.. to 58HP? I think not.

The shims simply preload the governor spring. Less tension on the spring means that the governor engages (activates powervalve) sooner (at lower rpm), and possibly faster too.

I checked my 2010 model during its rebuild and was going to remove a shim or two, but found I had none to start with. In saying that, its anyones guess as to how consistant the spring rates are across the board too, or if/how the factory tests to ensure the pv opens similarly across builds.

The Guy made my crank shaft and engine mods for my 144cc is doing the engines for the German gg racing team. I saw in his workshop some dyno charts and none of them had 58hp. The max was between 45 and 48 hp on the rear wheel. Maybe it is the calculated value for the power on the crank shaft....

I didn't think it was possible. 48 sounds realistic.:D

Internet HP is always higher than real world HP - fact!
However 48 rwhp is quite impressive considering .

Back in the day....(Smackover Forum) there was a shop out in So.Cal called MotoWest, I think the guys name was Steve??? Anyway he had some very high hp 250's and 300's that were used in District 37 Hare n Hound events. I can't remember the hp but they were pretty stout.

MotoWest was racing several GasGas bikes years ago, I think Jamie Lanza was on one at one time.

Also, MotoWest made there own "cone pipes" for the GasGas bikes which was a monster of a pipe.
