Pampera 2002-2005
 
How do the 2002-2005 pamperas hold up for trail riding.
Can you get any after market parts like a large gas tank?
Having a hard time finding info.

They are light duty trail bikes. Basically the European EC50 frame with the older 250/280 trials bike motor. Many lightweight trials components. My wife has a 250, its perfect for her casual riding at low speed. I would destroy the bike if I attempted to ride it like my EC and as often. Do not consider it in the same class as the EC/DE. Its a great easy to ride lightweight wife/girlfriend bike or low speed playbike, no more.

Thanks for the info.My dream bike would be a trials bike with a good seat
and a three gallon fuel tank .I guess I will keep looking.

Have you looked at the Scorpa long rides? I don't know much about them but they might be what you're looking for:

I think the T.Ride sounds pretty interesting but I don't know when it will be released.

Also the new import of Scorpa's is RYP so the Scorpa's should be easier to get.

Have a look at the '06 pampera 400.
This is not a light duty trail bike. Super light handling, massive suspension and tyre shredding power. I live in the rocky Flinders Ranges of South Australia and use this everyday as a mustering machine over frame breaking ground. When the going gets tricky you just pour on a bit more juice and stand up on the pegs. Let the spinning wheel and the suspension take care of the rest.

This bike is stunning, most people up here use kdx or ttr rice grinders. This will do them over every time.

Bigger tank is available from Clarke. You have to buy the long range tank for the fse450 and pthen plastic weld up the hole for the fuel injection pump.
Moderate riding gives you over 100km from the stock tank..cut this in half if you are playing and full bore

No need to look elsewhere MIKEWA
The Pampera is like a mountain goat, "progress through traction not momentum"
It's only downside is the small tank, if you can sort that it's a great bike
They are used a LOT here by LDT (long distance trial) riders, very manouverable, very nimble and will climb anything, they are basically a trails bike with a seat, it's a shame they have discontinued it and replaced it with the new 4T version which is far too heavy to compare to the original

My wife had the Pampera out yesterday with my son on his PW50. There is a small section of woods on the lake where I live that contains a retention basin. The bike is perfect for this type of family riding. Its also very quiet and offends no one. I could ride straight up the side of the basin (short but steep) with absolutely no momentum. I have a trials tire on the bike so that helps as well. This is great for my wife because she is not aggressive at all, and the bike is very forgiving. The local kids set up a very short(1/2 mile) trail loop. After a few laps of hammering that, the rear brakes were cooked. I had to pour water on the caliper to cool it off. So you see its fine in its element, but not good being pushed hard.

The only criticism I've heard about them is that the rims are made of toffee
But then the bike isn't designed to hit rocks at pace, rather to gently climb over them

You got it, also do contract for national parks laying fox baits.

Don't know what the hell you others are riding, the pampera 400 4stroke is not a little girls bike or light duty toy. Maybe what we get in Oz is different. My bike works hard over rough ground. Tyres don't wear out here, they literally fly apart. The rims are not toffee, the engine stays cool even on slow technical work, the brakes are superb. This bike hammers over rocks all day every day and does it better than any of the rice burners I've had before.
Average days work is about 120 kays. this requires a midday refuel. Other than the small fuel tank, the 400cc liquid cooled 115kg bike is absolutely the ducks nuts.
