VIN decoder

After all your explanations I can't decode my VIN.

VTREC200106010339

It's a EC 200, but how where can I see the year's model?

Thanks in advance

US Import so VIM might be different than a Euro model.
Cheers Jim, Good to see you are still here lurking.
Jeff

It's good to see you too, Jeff.
Thanks for the information.
How's the counterbalanced EC doing?
Is the 50cc SM still going strong?

Good riding to You!
Jim

In my own words and my "personal" translation and rationalization of your Gas Gas VIN #:

VTR = Racing vehicle
EC = EC model
20 = 200cc
01 = 2001 year model (Do you have the small airbox door on your
airbox's left side in front of the left number
plate? That started in 2001.)
The rest of the digits are related to manufacturer's run numbers for that model.

2002 was the first year that GG gave the tenth digit of the VIN a letter designation. Yours has a number in the 10th spot.

The 98 EC250SM is having some issue. That ratcheting sound you hear
in the kick starter after kicking through. I am getting that sound on
the down stroke... And some times it will slip a tooth or two on the
ratchet. And for some reason it feels like the compression has increased.
Last time I rode it, it made a loud "Pank, Pank, Pank" sound from the exhaust. Sad cause last year I replaced all the linkage bearings, had
the forks and shock rebuilt. Generally went through the whole bike and
spiffed it up. Only got a couple hundred miles in the canyons with it.

The EC50SM went back to AZ where it's owner lives. Ran out of storage
space in the garage.

Still have the Pampera. Have not worked out the title issue yet, bummer.
I do have an Idaho non-resident OHV tag on it, so I can ride it.

Cheers, Jeff

I have a 2013 XC 250, or what was purportedly one.

Definitely a 2 stroke electric start.

Bike was white with custom graphics and was a dealer demo for the owner of the shop.

I bought it from the guy who bought it from the dealer, but he?s pretty clueless, but a nice guy.

The VIN is VTRECH2C2DG400063

Model on title says GG-E3013

Engine says EC30 by shifter, which prompted my confusion, as well as some off parts that came with it in a box from the dealer that says XC300 demo.

It will be important when I have to do the top end.

Thanks in advance
Rob

Rob,
I'm not good with the VIN of "newer" model Gassers, so I don't want to give you any bad info on the VIN.
However, I can assist you with a bit of information concerning your bike.
The 250 and 300cc GasGas engines are identical, except for the cylinder, piston & rings, and the cylinder head. (Don't let the markings on the bottom end of the motor confuse you.)
An example: When I got my 2006 DE300, the importer had already sold the bike I ordered, so they sent me a 2006 DE250 with an additional 300cc top end. (The DE was a specially equipped EC model imported to the US for a year or two.) I dismantled the new bike's top end and exchanged the still new 250 top end for the 300c top end; and shipped the 250 top end to the importer.

A few pages back someone posted about a 2013 300. My VIN is literally almost identical. What is GG-3013

Sfdemo 06-06-2021 06:23 PM

My bike is a 300, I found someone who knows the history

Help with ID

Just trying to verify the model I got here..

VIN is VTRGG3002F1043226...

If I understand correctly it should be a 300cc 2005 txt pro model. I got this thing for $200 but the electrical is all messed up. Someone thought cutting wires was a good idea. So verifying the year so I can order the correct parts. Thanks guys!!

Chris
