New to gas gas. Ec300 doesn?t scream
Hiya new to gas gas. Only had 250f?s in the past and 125
2 strokes.. Got a 2010 Ec300. Just had a new top end. Load of compression and runs well. Has loads of bottom end but just seems to lack top end like it doesn?t scream. Is this just a characteristic of this engine? I think it?s running pretty rich so am gonna do the jetting. Any particulatar brand to go for or are jets jets?I?ve checked the power valve all ok. Repacked exhaust etc It feels like apart from the bottom end kick in the first few gears that it runs out of puff feels like a cr125 top end. Any pointers would be appreciated. My understanding is That I can lift adjust the height of the main jet to lean it out some? At the moment if i lean the bike Right over fuel doesn?t come out of the overflow Thanks for your help |
RM250 needle NEDJ
St N1FE is best cut in two so you aren't tempted to keep it. . Then find the right main circa 175 |
Thanks dude il give it a try !

My mate has a 10. We put that needle in. He scoffed as they look the same. Now he won't shut up about it. Try clip 2 from top but don't be afraid to experiment. Our gas / altitude will likely be slightly different.

If you really want a screamer throw a N3CJ in there, has a more angry transition than the NEDW. I run the NEDW though as the N3CJ can get tiring.

Make sure choke circuit is closing completely, had the same issues and that?s what it ended up being.

My Specs
My specs below, see the jetting thread, 12 years of jetting info on that thread.
http://www.gasgasrider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2162 Bike year & model = 2011 EC 300 Temperature = 90F+ Elevation (feet) = 0-100 ft Main jet = 178 Pilot jet =40 Needle & notch = N3EG #3 Air screw setting = 1.5 out Throttle valve/slide = stock Stock head. V Force,Pwk II 38mm, Motul 710 40/1. Note: dealer had installed the ultra lean CHN needle which someone else posted was the needle used for emissions testing in Europe. Much more torquey off the bottom with just a little more hit in the mid and same top end rev out. On plug chop, good tan color. Riding condition(engine load) deep sand. |

If jetting alone does not achieve the top end range you are looking for you may consider some other options, such as 1) FMF fatty or PC expansion chamber 2)less pre-load on the power valve 3) exhaust port height/base gasket thickness
All of these options will have an affect on where the bike is making power, but with the 300 you may find that giving up a little on the bottom end of the power curve for faster revving/more over rev is worth it. |
