Wiring for electric start conversion on 07 ec300
Does the ground need to be floated to add a battery and electric start since starter is grounded through the mount? Does anyone have a wiring diagram that has done the conversion?

Cant imagine why you would float ground. You want the best earth to starter.. but are you talking about full wave rectification?
Pictures please. I'd like to do my 07 one day Later bikes are too tall for me when it gets sticky. |
The 07 is AC current and the starter is DC so I'm assuming that the ground on the stator will need to be changed(floated) to convert to DC. I'm not sure how or if I could run both AC and DC since AC and DC can't share the ground. I could wire the starter and battery separate from the current AC for lights but charging the battery and grounding the starter are the issue. I'm hoping someone has wired one up in the past using the stock 2011 parts on an 07. Thanks

Ac and dc can share a ground with no issues. Plenty of bike have been wired that way for years.

Is it the lighting that people are referring to not sharing a ground? Gasser Nate, do you have a wiring schematic for this changeover on the 07? Thanks
|
Ac lighting single wave circuits share the earth. These can be utilised for charging or lighting circuits. No I don?t have a wiring diagram but it is a very simple circuit. Not hard to draw up at all. I am assuming you are adding the e start kit? Are you using the genuine kit or just bits and pieces?
|
Just using bits and pieces. I'm not sure what pins are input and outputs on the stock 2011 regulator.

Search for the 2011 wiring diagram on gasgas.es they usually show the pin outs of all the components.

Thank you
