2012 Stock Skid Plate

Hi, What is the 2012 stock skid plate made of on the GasGas and how does it hold up? Is it durable enough to protect the bike in nasty rock gardens or do you need to buy an after market skid plate to get enough protection in the rocks?

Thanks, Tim

I didn't get my AXP plate yet but its an HDPE material. I saw it on Clay's bike at the national and it looks very good. I have been running the Hyde combo with good results as well.

My bike has +40 hours now. Skidplate is still in one piece. little scratched, but not so bad. To be honest I have to say that I'm impressed that "plastic" can be so good... I didn't think that it would have lasted even last winter, but it did...

I had on mine the riginal GG plate from 2010 and 2011 and this plate does not resist very long. It broke after the first contact with a stone pipe.

I got about 20 hours on my 2012 with the plastic skid plate and so far so good. I was a bit worried about it a first but it seems to be quite durable as since I have scrubbed it over rocks and trees and it has held up well. As GasTimppa stated it will scratch a bit but that is expected, still looks good and most of all hasn't cracked.

I like the way the plastic plates slide off of obstacles, rather than bite into them. A lot slicker on your bike stand too.

Tim,
The stock plate is excellent. I had one on my 2011 Nambotin Replica that had a lot of time on it, including a super rocky Massachusetts enduro. My 12 has one on it too and I have been riding it since February.
Plus, the plastic doesn't sound bad like an aluminum plate does when you hit it.
