2003 EC250 front fork swap

Hi All, I have a 2003 EC250 which has damage on the front fork inners (the hard chrome has pitted and started to flake on the lower sections). Normally I would take them apart and send them off to be re hard chromed. Problem is I live in Cambodia and there are no hard chroming services available! I have found a set of new WP 43 forks in Italy, the price is great but they are for a KTM. I am hoping someone would be able to let me know the suitability of the new forks. I suspect that the axle hangers would be different but I can easily swap them out. My current forks have the number 0550W707 and 50.01 on the top caps. The forks I wish to purchase have the following numbers on the top cap 0550W709 and 09.03. Any information regarding the compatibility will be much appreciated.

Hello, If your bike already has WP43 forks the swap should work. I did this swap from a early GG with WP 43 to a KTM 380 with WP43 forks. The KTM needed to use about 1mm or 2mm of washers on the caliper mounting bolts to space over the brake caliper to align with the brake rotor.

If we look at it backwards you may need to do nothing or you may need to grind down the mounting pad on the caliper or fork caliper mount.

Thank you very much Zman, my faith in humanity has been restored! Information regarding even a spark plug for a Gasgas in Cambodia would be a miracle!

Many many thanks for your response Zman and thank you to gasgasriders.org
