Front wheel not central
 
My front wheel runs WAY too close to the RH fork (left as seen from the front).
I've taken it all apart and checked it against the parts diagram and logically and it's all 'correct'.
So, what has changed ?
It can only be that I changed the wheel bearings...
If the RH bearing wasn't seated (sitting proud) that would HELP, i.e. push the wheel towards the centre.

Has anyone seen this before ?

What about the DISTANCIADOR RUEDA DEL.17.2MM INT / FRONT WHEEL SPACER BEP250218019 ? part 11 on page 3 of the parts book.
(this is inside the wheel, between the bearings).
I remember when I changed the bearings that this is non-symetrical, but there didn't seem any obvious reason to put it in one way or the other.
I guess I must have got this the wrong way round.
Shame I'll trash at least one of the new bearings getting it out...

Is the rotor centered with the caliper?

Picture? Year model? Bearing part numbers that you replaced? Did you confirm them the same size/make?

Hi,

It's a mk2 Pampera 250 (2002).
I used AllBalls bearings, labelled for Pampera their part # 25-1135
Everything looks right, the brake works ok, but the wheel is just too close to one fork leg.

Part numbers are interesting...
The bearing numbers were 6003, same as I used in the rear.

But the parts manual has 2 different numbers for the front wheel bearings.
R=BEP250218007 L=BIE500118054
The supplied bearings were 6003 same as the rear bearings, both labelled as 6003, BIE500118054 in the parts book.
So, should I have had one 6003 and another different one ???
I have e-mailed AllBalls to see what they say...

Did you look at the numbers on the bearings that you took out of the wheel? Do you still have them in order to check them?

If the rotor is centered, you will have to adjust your spokes to shift the rim over.

That is accurate, but seems extreme to me when he only need the proper bearings and spacer alignment for things to work correctly.

I will check my parts book, but for now I'm speculating that there might be a mistake on the bearings in the All Balls kit.

Another avenue is to ask a (trials) dealer who stocked the Pampera parts for the information or the correct bearings.

I am with Jim on this one.
The Pampera does use different bearings on the front wheel.
I believe one is a different width. I'd need to pull the front wheel to check
if the O.D or I.D is different.
The caliper is solid mounted to the fork on one side. The other half slides
in and out to compensate for the brake pad thickness.
On the disk rotor / caliper side there is a thick washer / spacer between
the fork and the bearing.
I can take pictures of how mine is set up if needed.

Thank you Jeff. I think the bearing number will do him a lot of good. The spacer dimensions are also going to help him a lot.
You, like GasGasman and many others on this forum, have always been willing to help other riders. Kudos to all of you who make this forum such a great place to come for GasGas information and help!
