OBIE link guard

My rear shock is taking a beating from crossing logs etc.

No one ( that I know off) makes a link guard for the newer GasGas'.
After doing some research, I found the http://www.obielinkguard.com/
They don't make a GasGas specific guard.
So I purchased one for a BETA 250RR.

It mounted up very well.
I had to shorten the rear part of the guard 3/4". I also had to use a longer mounting bolt for the rear skid plate mount.

New mounting hole drilled for rear skid plate mount.

Hole drilled for oil drain. The two mounting bolts fit between the frame with no clearance issues.

Shock not hitting plastic plate.

Nice work!
What was the $?
I have a p3 bash plate, which uses a rear mount which cups the rear chassis rail,so most likely id need to butcher it some to make it fit.

The guard is $44. It is some tough plastic.

You do need a flat surface for the guard to bolt on to.

This is a sweet solution! At $44 it's a better deal than building your own like I've been doing. Thanks for taking the risk to try it out and thanks for sharing!

Sorry to dig up an old thread... but do you think this would work on a 2011 EC300? I have the stock plastic skidplate installed.

Thanks

I don't see why it won't work.

I don’t see why you need one on the old gasser? When you compare the old with the new linkage you will see that the old style is different and will not touch any obstacle.

It keeps mud and water off the linkage.
