Advice needed
 

As an mid fifty year old bk [before kids] expert trials rider, I need advice from the 'big bike' crowd... concerning the popularity of the 200.
I think I want one, but after learning it's basically the same bike as a 250, as opposed to the 125 based KTM, why not just get a 250?
As previously stated, I'm [getting] old, 5'9", less than 170 geared up, ride PNW woods, the tighter and more technical the better, and think I probably have throttle and clutch control down to at least an acceptable level.

If you use the weight argument, why not get the 300, its pretty much the same weight as the 200 and 250?
Main difference is how they put the power down, the 200 is a lot more forgiving to ride for a long time, the torque is much less abrupt and power comes on smoother than the bigger bikes. It needs to be ridden relatively aggressively to get the best out of the engine, and you need to pay slightly more attention to what gear you're in, but its not down on power by any means.

I don't ride really tight stuff but if I did I know I would be better off on a 200. In fact my next bike will more than likely be a 2012 GG200. I'm 53 now myself and my 300 has way more power than I can use and I actually have more fun when I can do a little throttle twisting.

And I'm a somewhat spritely 28 year old who has owned a 2010 EC300 Race for just over 12 months (130hrs) am also considering 'adding' a 2012 EC200 to the stable.

I had been considering selling the 300 for a 250, but am also considering a 200 due to $ and c. The 300 has more power than any human can put to the ground between the trees and limits how often you get to really turn the throttle. Like John I find the fun is in the twisting, feeling the bike pull and hearing it sing, and doing this all day on a 300 is hard work.

It really depends on your style and terrain. As stated the same frames, the same weight. My 300 will roll off idle without hesitation in 3rd gear from a stand still with only a little clutch. Its forgiving in that sense. It'll also break loose in top gear if you open it up on a firetrail.

Howdy from a fellow Trials rider. I do not ride the expert line, or the local equivalent but I did win my class in 06 and 07 and the last two events I rode.

Anyways, the wife and only ride tight stuff also, and the tighter and rockier the better.

Get the 200. Every time I get on her 200 I think "man I want both" as I am on a 300. If u r an expert trials rider then the 200 will have plenty of oomph as you are more then proficient with the throttle and clutch
