RTT Steering Damper
I bought an RTT Steering damper about 6 months ago. It comes with a new top triple clamp into which it is integrated. It also has a remote thumb control that can be sited near the grips so you can easily change the amount of damping while riding. The unit is a free to centralise type.
There were various horror stories about the seals not working well and units leaking. I spoke to RTT about this and they said the design had been changed and the problem cured. I have had no problem so far. So far mine works great and I really love it. The thumb control is the icing on the cake - you can adjust the damping as the terrain changes. The undamped centralising makes the steering retain a light feel whilst having a good amount of deflection control. It feels so much better than the GPR2 unit which I am also familiar with. Looks very neat integrated into the clamp too. |
I didn't know what the RTT steering damper looked like, so I found a pic on their product page. I attached it below for reference.
How is the fit with the gas tank? Any issues removing the gas tank (such as having to rotate the steering damper post)? http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f7...ringdamper.jpg |
Yes, you have to rotate the post unfortunately to get at the tank bolt. I had heard the same problem exists with some other dampers and I guess your question confirms that.
