let me start out by saying i love my 2000 gasser!
but the front suspension has been trying yo kill me for some time now rebuild it myself (seals oil etc.) no better had it rebuild by specialist . even worse can anyone tell me what type of front suspension im running and how to get them to work ? ill try and add photos later they are 50mm conventionals thanks |
That is a good looking bike.
The fronts are or should be Marzoochi magnums. I don't know much about them. I had the 45mm zooks on my 97' and changed them out to a set of 43mm WP off of a 2001 Gasser. From what I have read they where a great fork in there day, but are a bit dated know as far as the technology in them. There are some very knowledgable guys on this site, that will chime in on this soon. |
The forks look like the WP 50mm Extreme to me. There is not alot of experience with them here as they only came on a six days replica model that was a "special edition" for U.S. market. I think it was '99 or 2000 model year.
Contact the member "roostafish" - he used to own a gg ec250 six days replica with that same fork. I rode his bike and the fork worked well - so seems like you need service/adjustment or a revalve for your conditions and all will be well. Do a google search on "WP Extreme 50" to find more info. jeff |
Look like the Magnums to me, WP extremes may be the same thing as I had a 99 Kato 250exc with the same forks. And by memory they had extreme stickers on them, but I'm sure they were Marzocchi's.
Anyway, they were great forks, a lot better than the 43mm usd forks on my 2000 kato |
I have the same forks on my 2000 250 I get on really well with them they are indeed the magnums very god fork in my opinion.. What sport of retain do you ride?
! |
i use it for motocross
biggest problem right now is it sticks at the first couple of cm,s then they get really soft and bottom out and when you compress it it doesnt come back completly you have to pull it out seems like its sticking somewhere but cant seem to find out why |
Check you front axel to see if it is bent. That can cause problems like you describe.

The other problem with sticking may just be a little stiction with the new seals you installed, nothing to worry about as while you are riding they move as normal, just feel sticky when jumping up and down on them while stationary. |
thanks everybody
ive got me an exploded view and a spare parts list gonna start dissasembling next weekend ill keep everybody posted on what i find out |
