2001 ec200 rear master cylinder upgrade/replacement
 

Hi all, new to the forum and new to the gasser. I just picked up a 2001 ec200 in decent shape that needs a few things and one of which is the rear master cylinder.

Does anyone know what rear master will be a direct bolt on for this year ec200? I'd like to get rid of the separate fluid reservoir and use a newer nissin that has the reservoir built in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Some of the earlier Honda CR rear master cylinders will work.
You will have to match up the casting # on the side of the master cylinder-should be 1/2".
I don't know if there's room for the built in reservoir.

So it sounds like I'll need to see the CR one as well to match them up.

How come you don't like the remote reservoir?

You simply slide it out of the bracket and pull out to fill.

I do like that its easy to see and fill but I think it looks much cleaner with the one built in and less of a chance of the hose catching on something or smashing the reservoir (lots of trees and rocks where I ride). I also think there is some loss of breaking pressure when you add a hose into the mix.

I did find a new old stock one that I purchased so I am going to stick with the reservoir for now.

Oh and thank you for removing my other 2 posts that were in the wrong sections. I tried to find how to delete them then noticed they were already gone.

Roadrace bikes just have a long clear hose with a bung at the top. Cable tie it out of the way. Can't get broken or caught. You really don't need that much volume.

The bung seems not to leak but now I wonder if it breathes at all but doesn't seem to vacuum lock. Hmm.
