2014 EC300 Will Not start
 

hey guys i have an electrical issue with my 300.

It appears to have decent spark but will not start. I have checked all my grounds and have the bike wired to run with out the headlight and start with kick only.
I bought this bike sight unseen at and auction and it was a complete mess. i never heard it run and i dont know anything about it.
-It does have good compression
-a new kehin carburetor from a ktm 300
-good plug
-good coil(tested)
*however, the stator has 4 wires. there's 2 brown wires. which to me is stupid:confused:
when i check resistance from a yellow and dark brown i get .9 ohms. which to me is ok. when i check the other wires i get nothing.
please let me know if you guys have any ideas.

So you have spark so just focus on getting the bike running.

Change the plug. Yes again. I really mean it. Sparking is not the sign of a plug that will run when inside under pressure. You needed a spare anyway.

If no joy you are looking at gas. Air filter out and spray some engine start or brake clean down carb. Does it run now?

I'd expect that the pilot jet is blocked from sitting with gas in it too long, possibly also choke.

Then you may have some work to get the carb set up but that can come after.

Its none of the above.
The bike will try and start then immediately shutdown. I am getting fuel. The issue is no spark under compression. But spark when I pull the plug and check it. Yes the plug is new

Just because you're getting spark doesn't mean the ignition coil is good. Swap with just about any known good coil to test. I've even had weird stuff with plug wires so maybe swap it as well. Also, make sure all grounds are clean and tight.

Had similar symptoms on a CR500 once, it ended up being the stator had a short in the windings. It had enough juice to make a spark, but wouldn't run, or when it did run, it ran like crap. Sent the stator out and had it rewound, fixed the problem.
