Loose crank stuffer bolt and the consequences
1 Attachment(s)
I have had ec300 11' now about 5 month. Some bad "luck" striked me reasently. Engine suddently stopped while riding and kickstarter feel rock hard. I went home and wonderd what had happend. The magneto side plastic stuffers bolts were detached and the pistons skirt had hit the bolt and so caused the stop. Luckyly only piston and crank were damaged, there was a recipe for bigger catastrophe.. Now I Am rebuilding the engine (new piston, crank+bearings)
The new crank does not have bolts underneath as the old crank did. Should I install the bolts to the new crank? |

If it were me, I would install the bolts and have the crank balanced. You will be very happy with a balanced crank.
At this point ,you don't know if the bolts were installed when the crank was balanced. Use Loctite on the stuffer bolts!! |

Those bolts seem to have quite factory look, not chopped to certain lenght as would be doe while balancing? Do some gassers have balanced cranks?
I don't really have the time to get it balanced :( |

Loctite!!!!!

Also, 2 bolts of equal mass (weight them) will not affect the balance of the cranks.
