2013 ec 300

Hi all,

It's been a long time since i've been on here. In fact prob when I had my '99 300EC. Well i'm back and looking at a '13 300 xc. Very low hours and good shape. What do I need to know about these? I read they are heavy etc....but i'm a motorcycle mechanic and i'm ok with doing mods. I appreciate the input.:D

I'm not the guy that can steer you in the right direction on all that, but I just wanted to say that I LOVE my 2013 EC300. :D

1 down 5 up clutch is on the left twist it and have fun!
I would say check and make sure it has the updated sub frame. Check the clutch basket my 12 had holes drilled in the basket for oil flow but they were to big an caused the basket to fail, I had an early 13 and had the same basket so I put the rekluse basket in. Later production had this fixed.
House of HP exhaust is nice to open it up. I ran a Leo Vince silencer with an FMF Gnarly which really helped throttle response. I had the HOP pipe on but trashed it so back to the Gnarly but with the HOP silencer and like that combo, just don't want to shell out the coin for another HOP pipe.
Jetting takes some work. I got mine sorted out but may try a Lectron carb in the future.
I bought a 12 and had some problems worked a deal and got a 13 huge improvement. I got it set up the way I like and would not trade this bike for any other bike a this point. Well over 200 hrs on it and no major problems.

Send carb and head to RB-Designs....

RB Designs Carb mod fixes pilot circuit insensitivity and dials in jetting...

RB-Designs to machine head to dial in squish which is set way too loose and to optimally set compression for your altitude and fuel used.

Suspension to LT-Racing ( www.lt-racing.com ) for service and revalve.

Then have fun...

RB mods, all of them. Subframe mod is nice but not a nessesity. Im a 275 lbs A rider and mine has held up fine. Swap the stock rear tire, 50 tooth rear sprocket if it already hasnt been done, check all the lube points and spokes and go. They are good bikes.

Does the S3 head bring the squish correctly back? Anybody try one of those? We ride anywhere from 6k-13k in one day.... so jetting on ANYTHING is always off. lol. The suspension is pretty good standard? Thanks for the replies.

S3 will adjust squish but it also raises compression ratio. It just has 3 different spacers in .5 mm increments but the chamber volume is not adjusted so each time you lower the head it is taking away some volume. I ran an S3 with the black insert and really liked it but, with some rudimentary math I figured compression ratio around 14.3:1.

Ron Black (RB designs) may be able to set you up with those elevations with the carb. Ive rode from sealevel to 6-7k feet and adjusted the air screw. Same as temps 15-20 degrees up to 90-100 and his adjustable custom knob he makes took care of it.

Thanks...will look into it on the carb! So i''m going to look at it today and was hoping some of you guys can give me an idea on what its worth? It's a 2103 race model of course....that has about 35 hours on it. Very minty. Oh yeah and totally stock with composite subframe.

Prices on these bikes are all over the place. There was a 2012 that was in pretty decent shape on here that sold for $2200. Then there is a 13 listed on here for $4,000 and has been all year. Just a few months ago I sold my 2011 with 86 hours on it for $4,100. I would think the $3000-$4000 range would be fair if it's in good shape and you like it
