Hydration valve in the helmet - how do you drink, does it get in the way
I would like to do this but the thought occurs that the valve will have to be more or less touching your lips the whole time since there's no way to reach forward to drink only move your lips
Does that annoy/distract you? Does it get in the way? |
Mine ends sitting beside my mouth when I'm not drinking which doesn't really bother me. When I want to drink I open my mouth and the hoses tendency to want to be straight allows it to jump into the perfect drinking position, when I'm done I push it back to the outside of the check with my tongue. I too had similar concerns about the hands free setup but after using for a few months it nice to be able to drink on the roll and doesn't really bother me at all. Only issue I've had is catching the oring on the quick disconnect(on clicking together) and stretching it out. Luckily the oring is standard and easy to get so I just swap it out once the quick disconnect starts fighting me.

Go for it! I have used it for 2-3 years and it makes me a faster rider (sort of). Before, I could only drink when the track was smooth, as I had to sit down and fumble around for the Camelbak hose. Now, I sometimes have to push my helmet slightly backwards to reach the valve, but most og the time I manage to find it just by opening the mouth. It does not get in the way, it is kind of reassuring to feel that the drink is available all the time :)

What quick connect fittings are you all using?

Leatt makes a a water pack that has the hands free with it my buddy bought one at the dirt bike shop where we ride. It's the same setup as the one in the posted link. They have different styles and they range from $60.00 to $200.
