xc300 18" NO SPARK

Was riding my 2018 XC300 last weekend and was running fine until I killed the engine for about 2 minutes . I attempted to use estart to restart it but ended up having to kick it about 20 times before it fired up and ran fine for about 5 minutes until I killed the engine again. After not starting I found that there isn't any spark. I have checked over the bike and the only thing I could find was continuity between the yellow and black and earth kill switch wires when using estart or kicker. Is this a CDI issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try to disconnect the kill switch?
I don't know about the 18 models, but on earlier bikes the kill switch grounds the ignition signal. If it is faulty, perhaps it grounds it all the time, not only when pushed in.

Yes kill switch has been disconnected.

I have heard of a few 18?s having CDI issues. Mine has a spark advance issue not long ago. Not a big fan of the hydria stuff. Test the pick up and source coils first before ordering one though. They aren?t cheap.

Another thing to check is the actual ignition coil itself. I've seen coils that test good cold but once warm will fail. Just something else to look in to!

Cdi

Trying to rule out if CDI is the issue.
Should a 2017 Ec300 CDI work on a 2018 xc?

Thanks

My EC2018 died on the trail a few weeks ago...Buddy has a 2012 and I'm wondering same thing. Can we use his CDI for a spark test. I have ruled out kill switch, spark cap ect.

One of the 2018 GG riders in our group had a similar issue: no spark one day out on the trail. After suggesting kill switch and checking connections, I texted my brother who was a service manager of a very large multi line dealership a number of years ago and he suggested that if he had a horn, disconnect it. My friend did that and his bike started right up. No problems since then. I would say if you have a horn (or even lights) disconnect them one at a time and check for spark. Good luck!

My buddies 18? 300 had no spark. Was the rectifier. $54 I think he said

Buddy has a 2018. We plugged in his CDI and fired first kick.
