Hi everyone,
New member to the forum here, and new GasGas owner too. I picked up a 2013 EC300 a few weeks back. Coming from the bike I learnt on, a DRZ400, this thing is an animal! The bike is going good so far apart from the electric start which wasnt working from when I got the bike. I had it to a mechanic whom said the starter motor bendix was damaged. So I have replaced it with the CH80 bendix as I read about on this forum. It is now working 50% of the time that I try the electric start, which is great result. I also read that on the 2013 bikes there are issues with the cables off the battery not being a thick enough gauge. I've tried to do a search on here but cant find anything specific. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Razza |
Nice upgrade from a heavy ol' tractor (DRZ)
Does this thread help? http://www.gasgasrider.org/forum/sho...ght=gauge+wire |
Congratulations and welcome to the club! You will have a lot of fun with that bike.

On ya.
1. Read the jetting section and buy an RM250 needle or similar. You won't believe the improvement if it still has the std needle. 2. Take the small sidecover off the bendix runs in. It wears oval so the bendex moves away from the gear. As it skews it will get destroyed in short order now it is worn. The fix is simple. You van buy an insert from any bearing shop for mere dollars, that has same ID as shaft, then bore the cover to fit. Like new but better. Think I bought spares when I did my mates if you can't find. Heck I made a jig to do the drilling. Wonder where that is? |
Actually I found the jig,
but I think that the 13 is mounted slightly differently than my mates like 15ish. But principle should be the same. Just drop the cover off and see if there's any sideways play on the bendix. |
Hi,good choice.

I will check out the sidecover at the bendix too. Ill report back on what I find. The bike only has 100 hours on it, and the previous owner removed the electric start systems for at least some of that time, so hopefully no issues with it at the moment. |
