Ec300 clutch assembly position

I needed to replace my kick start shaft so I disassembled my clutch to do so. Then I read this in the shop manual:
Note:
The clutch hub has an assembly position with respect to the primary shaft. Mark the position using a permanent marker on the grease ring.

So how important is this? Since I didn't mark it is there any way to determine the assembly position? Is it because its balanced or something?

Thanks,
-Josh

I can assure you mine has been removed and refitted so many times that the chances of it being in the "correct" position are as many splines are on that shaft. It runs fine

That instruction in the manual spun me out too. I couldn't get my head around any particular reason why it was important. I figured it was something lost in translation regarding the position of the lock washer tab. *shrugs*

Thanks guys, I just went and put it back together because I needed to go riding. Didn't have any issues with it.

I found the manual in the General Discussion thread - its a sticky too.
