I was in the same position and went the 2013 model. Make sure for your coin you get the closed cart forks and an aluminium subframe. The 2014+ gets the nice purple shock - possibly better build quaility than the entry level Ohlins 888. It also gets the diecast engine covers and head, with associated weight savings. The 2015 gets the adjustable powervalve.
I bought a 2013 on clearance, modified the head, added protection, tuned it up, registered it, and still came in under the best price for a 2014 rolled off the floor (considerably).
