I would go about it this way:

1. Verify oil level (you've done that already)
2. change oil filter to a hi-flo hf-112
3. clean out oil screen in oil sump
(do the '06 have wet sump? do they have the rectangular lid under the engine?)
4. Change the sensor (easy but perhaps pricey)
5. hook up a real pressure gauge and verify oil pressure
6. if oil pressure is infact under spec'd and you have done all steps above, disassemble oil pump and check for excessive wear, replace parts if necessary.
7. If oil pump is good and pressure is still low, you have too much play in pressure lubricated bearings somewhere. Engine rebuild.
