Sounds like the clutch plates are stuck together.
With the motor off. Try putting it in 5th-6th gear.
Pull in the clutch lever and try and move the bike
forward or backward.
If that is not it...hmm. Is there a engine kill switch
for either the side stand or one so you can not
start the bike in gear without the clutch lever pulled in?
Maybe one of those are faulty if it has one.
