Your problem may lie in this past sentence.
I think GMP wrote something about not running the battery ground
wire to the chassis, but, to keep a closed system for all the electrical
connections to just the +12VDC and the (-) battery ground.
I think I said that I too ran a ground a wire from my battery (-) terminal
to chassis ground. I need to take another look at my set up this weekend.
I do not have a static situation battery discharge problem like you do though.
My bike can sit for weeks and the battery seems to hold it's charge.
I an just curious to remember how I did mine, as I am planning to do the
same mod to my 1990 KDX200 soon.
