I'll pull some figures off mine for you too Nath. Its a 2010 model but uses the same chasis. The different brands of pegs could mount up differently. A few mm here could feel a lot more. I notice massive differences in using the rear brake going from stock pegs to power pegs (old school pivot pegs) and now the Talons I have on there. Never really gave a thought to the seat to peg relationship, but my experiences does indicate a change in height from one brand to the next.

Regarding the clearance it could also be sag related. His shock may be running alot of preload, or running more comp holding it up in the stroke more. You'd notice a lot of difference in handling between the bikes like this too, particularly how well it turns and how well they hook up under the throttle.
