I like the 3 oz. per gallon rate.
I pack an 8 1/2 oz. Listerine bottle of oil. It's flat and sturdy. I pour in oil and make marks for every 1 1/2 oz.
I've never used all 8 oz. but there always seems to be someone who forgot to pack oil.
